On 28th February, the Bishop of Maidstone held the first of a series of regional meetings for clergy and members of the senior leadership team of churches which have passed resolutions. The meeting was held at St Andrew’s Church Leyland and was for those from Blackburn, Carlisle, Chester, Manchester and Liverpool Diocese. Despite the snow, 50 people attended and the meeting provided a useful time for sharing of information, discussion and fellowship. Following an introduction and presentation from Rod Thomas, there was a hot lunch. The afternoon session included a brief presentation about each Diocese represented, with the remaining time used for a question and answer session and prayer.
The main meeting was followed by a 2 hour training session for curates covering the practical implications of seeing presbyters as teachers and issues to consider in applying for incumbencies.
Further meetings will be held round the country with the aim of a meeting in each region of the country once every two years.
